Saliency map in image visual quality assessment and processing

Images are mainly viewed and analyzed by humans. Because of this, in the characterization image quality effectiveness processing, it is necessary to take into account peculiarities human vision system cognition that very complex. Saliency maps as well priority meaning introduced recently attempts incorporate specific features analysis processing fields. Many authors consider aforementioned them from different viewpoints. Thus, basic subject this paper factors influence determine these maps. Among such factors, there low-level social psychological ones emotions, age, life values. The main goal give a brief survey how already used assessment they can be employed future. tasks provide definition saliency, priority, maps, analyze evaluate what improvement obtained due taking visual operations assessment, denoising, lossy compression. result that, saliency account, efficiency sufficiently improved, especially for applications oriented on viewing observers or customers. This done simple weighting local estimates given metric with further aggregation approaches based neural networks. Using quantitative criteria, we show positive results got incorporating processing. As conclusion, present possible directions future research related an adaptation denoising compression parameters attention.
